Le Cauden Waterfront Complex, Port Louis This modern shopping and entertainment complex features clothing boutiques, fine restaurants, hotels, a casino and live street entertainment. If you are driving you can park here and visit the other Port Louis attractions on foot.

Central Market, Port Louis This bustling, lively open-air market offers a variety of goods for sale including fruit, herbs, spices and souvenirs.

Blue Penny Museum, Port Louis This fascinating museum offers a real insight into the earliest periods of Mauritius' development. Within you will find original maps dating back to the 1400's showing how Mauritius was kept secret by the earliest merchant ship captains, learn about some of the famous battles that took place as the English, French and Dutch battled for ownership and how many ships were dashed on the reefs including Le Saint Geran. The museum also details life on the island through the ages, the story of Paul and Virginie and holds the story and collection of Mauritius stamps including a Penny Blue, one of the rarest stamps in the world.

Natural History Museum, Port Louis Founded in 1880, this museum features an exhibit of the popular Dodo, the flightless bird that has been extinct since the end of the 17th century, and a vast library collection of more than 50,000 books.

Port Louis This bustling neighborhood is known for its small shops, family traders and oriental restaurants.

Champs de Mars, Port Louis Situated close to Domaine Les Pailles, visit the islands only horse racing track and have a superb day at the races.

Water Park
On the coast near Belle Mare, there is a relatively new Water Park. The park has several swimming poolsand a numberofrides: the Black Hole, Lazy River, GiantSlides, Crazy River, Multi Lane and Wave Pool. For younger children there's a ship wreck feature, for adults there is room to relax and sunbathe, food and drink facilities.

Eureka colonial house at Moka, outside Port Louis is a fascinating trip back in time, containing original artefacts dating back to the 1700's. Now a museum, this original house was originally built by an Englshman, Mr Carr ata time when Mauritius wasstill known as Ile de France. Balaclava Ruins A few metres away from Baie aux Tortues, which 17th century sailors named after the many tortoises in the area, can be found the ruins of the old Balaclava estate. Visitors will be able to see the sea walls, whose initial foundations were laid down by Mahé de Labourdonnais.

Mauritius offers some excellent golf courses, and visitors are increasingly aware of it. There are at least three hotels with 18-hole courses and another five with 9-hole courses. The Ile aux Cerfs course, which sits on its own tiny island is the most spectacular.

For honeymooners, the island is very welcoming. Almost all hotels offer a special honeymoon package. As a non-resident, you can easily tie the knot here. But a few formalities must be completed with officialdom; make sure you comply before arrival.
