Get Married in Mauritius!

Getting married in Mauritius is easy, there are a few simple rules to follow and a host of wonderful locations vying for your custom. Ceremonies can be held in hotels, on the beach, on a boat, in churches, chapels, temples dependent on meeting religious requirements or in a Civil Status Office.

What do we need?
Persons wishing to marry in Mauritius must be over 18.
Non-citizens and non-residents of Mauritius may get married after only 1 day in the country but must forward the following in advance, tour operators will help you to organise this and make sure they are presented to the relevant authorities in time.

As the Mauritian legal system operates in English, all documents must be presented in English, translations can be completed by your Embassy and must be submitted on Embassy headed paper.

Normally visitors will arrange a wedding through a travel or tour operator who take care of everything for you. Having forwarded copies before your visit, you will need to visit a Civil Status office to confirm your original documents and this will be organised for you.

Required documents must be received by the Registrar at least 10 days prior to the wedding date.

i) Copies of your passports
ii) Copies of your birth certificates
iii) Divorce or death certificates relating to any former marriages
iv) Copies of documents for changes of name.
